The Universal Wage Code Bill is also applicable to the employees who are getting a salary of more than 18000 Rs. As per minimum wage policies of various state governments the minimum wage rates are applicable to the employees whose salary is less than 18000 Rs only.

The universal wage code bill will be applicable to all classes of workers, at present the minimum wages are applicable to the scheduled employments and establishments in the law.

The ministerial panel of labour issues headed by the finance minister of India Sri Arun Jaitley has already approved this universal code on the wage bill, now they are planning to get approval from the union cabinet in the coming monsoon session of parliament which is going to be held in the month of July 2017.

If any state government wishes to pay higher minimum wages fixed by the central government as per the universal minimum wage code bill 2017 then they can pay that high amount as per their wish.
