Can My New Employer Check My Previous EPF Deductions

No, your new employer cannot check your previous EPF deductions by using your UAN number. But they can find your service history by using your UAN number in their employer PF portal.

In the below image, you can see how employers check the service history of their employees by using UAN numbers.

can my new employer check my previous EPF deductions.

“If you are mentioning fake salary details then you don’t need to worry about giving your previous UAN number to the new employer, but if you have mentioned wrong experience details then it is better to not give your UAN to the new employer.”

Why Hiding Your Previous PF Details is Not a Good Idea

At present Aadhar number of the employee is mandatory to generate a UAN number. So if you already had a UAN which was linked to your Aadhar number, then it is not possible to generate a new UAN.

And the second reason is if you keep on changing UAN numbers (not possible nowadays)  then your EPF service period will break, which will hurt your monthly EPF pension amount after 58 years of your age.

Finally, any misrepresentation of previous job details will take away your peace of mind and they may hurt at any time. Now most companies made background verification very strict. So hiding your previous job details is not a good idea.

Can We Open a New PF Account When We are Absconding from Previous Company

Once your UAN is linked with your Aadhar number then it not possible to create a new UAN with the same Aadhar number. Because at present EPFO made it mandatory to submit the Aadhar number of the employee to generate a new PF account.

So you have to continue with the same UAN whenever you join in the new job.

  2. Hey rajesh!
I graduated this year and have worked in a company for 3 months for which UAN and pf no.is generated and now getting an offer from another company where I applied as a fresher. I want to hide the 3 month experience because there is no relevance for that experience in the new job role. The new company will make us Fill form 11 and will ask about UAN. Should I not provide them with the same at start like 1st on boarding day and can fill no in form 11 for the same.
Afterwards , if they ask can I provide them with UAN and tell the reason for not mentioning the job role or what can be the possible things I can do afterwards like can I edit the docs after joining ?

  3. Hi,

I left an organization and joined another organization after 2 months. I spent only 2 months there and I left from there. I don’t want to mention this 2 months experience now for my next job as people may not get confidence as I left in 2 months.

    • In most cases, employers don’t see the previous company details while generating a new PF account.
So you have to take that risk when you are hiding your experience details.

    • Your new employer has the option to find out your previous job experience of 2 months in that company, by using your UAN. Even if you don’t submit your UAN generated by previous company, the new company will still find out about your UAN, and check your service history. So if you really want to hide that, don’t give your Aadhaar card details to the new company after joining, and you should ask them to not create a PF account.

    • You can update your date of exit yourself on the UAN portal, so better update it.
It doesn’t require any approval from the employer & continue the same UAN in your new job.

    • @Veerababu, Don’t worry. You can share your UAN. It is against to the policies is having 2 UAN numbers. Even if you didn’t reveal also, new company will try to create the new UAN. At that time if any UAN or company details exist in the EPF portal, it will show that one and they will not create new UAN again. Your new employment details will link to that.

Few companies will have IT and Non-IT jobs. So you can manage if they question, was working in IT department in the same company. So they will not dig much.

      All the best…!

  6. Hello,
I have a query. I withdrew my complete pf amount for higher education in the year 2016(i.e. post my 1st job)

In 2018, I joined a new organization and informed them about my PF withdrawal and filled the form11 with my UAN details and also choosing yes for the questions,”If I was part of PF and Pension scheme earlier”.

Now, recently, I switched job and joined a new company. I applied for PF transfer and it was rejected by the EPFO stating,” wages more than 15K, please share if any previous service”.

I reached out to my previous company and informed them about this. They have informed me that I will not be eligible for pension and by mistake they contributed towards pension during my tenure with them.

Therefore, can any expert help me with this please?

  7. I have worked in a company A for one month. And I get salary for that one month and they also create an EPF account and They asked me to generate the UAN number but I didn’t generate the UAN number.
Recently I have joined another company B, and I didn’t include that one month experience that I get in A company and I did not include the EPF account details in B company. Is this will this create any problems regarding PF and UAN number in the Company B after they credit my first month salary?

(Q1) My UAN is linked to Aadhar, and I want to get it deactivated, so that my new employer can generate a new UAN using my existing Aadhar. Can that be done?
(Q2) If I withdraw my PF, and close that EPF account, will my member service details get erased from EPFO database forever?

    • It is not passible to deactivate Aadhar from UAN, and even after withdrawing the PF, still you have to continue the same UAN.
