Changing the date of joining online by both employer and employee is not possible. If by mistake employer updates the wrong date of exit then they need to submit PF joint declaration form to their PF regional office along with a request letter on the company letterhead.
EPF members can correct their name, date of birth, and gender details only online by using their UAN number.
To correct the date of joining or date of exit they should fill below PF joint declaration form ( PF date of joining change form)

- On PF joint declaration form you can see a field called the date of joining, here enter the correct date of joining and also the wrong date of joining.
- After filling this form take the signature of the employee and employer and submit it to the PF office along with a request letter from the company to the PF office.

Take the signature of authorized person of PF in the company and submit this letter along with the PF joint declaration form.
Note: Hence there is no online facility till now in the UAN portal, we have to follow the offline procedure to correct the wrong date of joining in the PF portal.

It will take maximum 20 days to correct wrong date of joining in PF portal from the date of submitting the joining declaration form to the PF office.
Can I apply for date of joining change after leaving the job
Yes, you can apply for DOJ change whenever you find it wrong. But if possible it is always better to correct such things while in the job because you will get your employer support, but later also not a problem.

The date on which your first PF contribution was made is your joining date.
If your PF passbook shows PF contribution since 10/03/2000 then that will be your joining date.
You can correct date of joining by submitting PF joint declaration form to the PF office.
I joined a company A on 4th Nov,2019 and Absconded it on 22nd Nov, 2019. I joined company B on 27th Nov, 2019. My PF UAN account for A started on 5th Nov and company B started on 27th Nov. I did not received any salary from company A nor any PF in my account. Company A dropped me an email on 4th Dec, 2019 mentioned my absence and they marked my DOE for 5th Dec, 2019. Hello , My brother joined X company DOJ : 12-09-2018 but He absconded but they processed his PF and mark DOE 12-11-2018,

one of incident happened in my company, XYZ employee joined our company at 01.04.2016 his pf id “123” and leaving on the date of 01.04.2017 for withdrawal his pf fully by offline and he joined again in 01.11.2018 and continue doing his work but on portal his not update old DOJ & old DOE that time one of HR person update his date of joining as 01.11.2018 on old pf id.
Now the condition is very complicated he have old pf id but DOJ is new…

You can correct it by writing a request letter to your PF office and the employee also needs to submit PF joint declaration form.

If your company is operating their business right now then EPFO will definitely ask you to get approved by them.
If your employer doesn’t support then register a complaint on the EPF grievance portal, they will contact your employer on behalf of you.
