How to Solve PAN Verification Failed Error in UAN Portal (99% Works)

Getting the following errors that PAN verification failed. (name against UAN does not match with the name in income tax department) & error while PAN authentication. could not send message have become very common for EPF members when they are trying to link their PAN number with their UAN number. Here we have a solution for EPF PAN verification failed error.

But before knowing about the solution we should know why we need to link our PAN with UAN. Because when we are claiming a PF amount of more than 50000 Rs in below 5 yrs of service then 34.6% tax will deduct from our claim amount, In order to avoid this tax deduction we need to link our PAN with UAN number.

Reasons for EPF PAN Verification Failed Error

There are Two main reasons because of them we are not able to link our PAN with UAN, they are

i) The mismatch of names present in PAN card and PF portal. If your name printed on PAN card (i.e income tax department) is not matching with the name in PF portal then you are not able to link your PAN with UAN. To solve this issue you need to correct the incorrect name either in PF portal or PAN card.

You can correct your name in PF portal either by submitting PF joint declaration form to PF office or you can also correct your name online at UAN portal. To correct your name on PAN card read this article on guidelines to correct name on PAN card.

ii) The second and mostly faced reason for not linking PAN with UAN is the problem with EPFO website. There is no proper integration between income tax website and PF portal. So even though the names present on income tax database and PF portal match but still we are not able to link our PAN with UAN number. Here we have a solution for this problem.

When your name present on PAN card and UAN portal matches then you can solve your problem by raising a grievance at PF portal. When you raise a grievance at PF portal, the EPF officials will personally check your case and 99% they will try to resolve your problem.

Process to Raise a Grievance to Solve PF PAN Verification Error

Step 1:-  Go to EPF grievance portal and click on Register Grievance option. Now enter your UAN, now an OTP will be sent to your PF registered mobile number, Now enter that OTP. (If you don’t know how to raise a grievance in PF portal then read this step by step process of EPF grievance registration )

Step 2:- Now select your gender and enter your address details and click on your PF member ID.

Step 3:- Now select grievance related to as PF office, grievance category as KYC related issues of subscriber pertaining PF office and enter the grievance description. After entering the description click on Add.

Step 4:- Now you can find your grievance request in grievance details, here you can edit or remove it. If you find everything is fine then click on submit.

Once you raise a successful grievance then within 24-48 hours you will get a reply from your regional EPF branch office and 99% they will resolve your issue. If you don’t get a reply then you can also send a reminder for your grievance by using send reminder option.

    Other than EPFO Grievance portal, is there any options available to check my EPS accumulations.

    My employer maintains both PF& EPS in a single account with EPFO office.
    My transfer request from my old PF account to new PF account has recently been approved by EPFO field office . When i checked PF balance using my old PF account from EPFO Passbook portal, it shows Zero balance and some credits for EPS accumulation whereas for my new PF account it shows cumulative PF accumulation and EPS accumulation only for my new PF account. So, it’s evident that PF transfer is successful from my old PF to new PF account . Not sure what’s with EPS accumulation.

    Can you please help to find options to figure out if my EPS also transferred to my new PF account.

    My name is same everywhere (UAN,TAX,AADHAR,PAN etc.)
    I raised a grievance but i got the below reply. My AADHAR & PAN are linked in TAX website as well. Can you please suggest if there is any other way to get this resolved.

    –>> Member is requested to kindly verify the member particulars in income tax website database ( not as name mentioned in the PAN card) and if member name as per UAN and Income tax webiste details is exactly matching, update PAN details in KYC and get it approved by Employer.     I was working for an IT firm in India as well as Overseas over 11 years. I’ve recently quit my employer .

    When i applied for with drawing my PF, realised that my employer has created 2 different PF accounts -one for my tenure in Overseas and another one for India.

    As advised my employer i’ve submitted Form 13 to intiitate online PF Transfer from my old PF account (tenure in India) to a new PF account (tenure in Overseas) .Currently, i’m living in Overseas. But as of now, i haven’t heard anything back from EPFO on my Form 13 request in regards with approval.

    I did send a follow up mailer as well- hard luck though.

    Kindly let me know who is the point of contact for this?

    I have the same issue which says UAN name doesn’t match with the Income Tax Department name.

    as per your description above you have mentioned name printed on the PAN CARD is the Income Tax Name, if that is correct then my name is both UAN & PAN Card is the same (Gowrie Shankar R)
    However in the incometaxefiling website i noticed that my name is (Gowrie Shankar Raghunathan) i.e. my father’s name is also expanded.

    Please let me know if this is where the PAN is failing to link with UAN and if so how do i get it rectified??

    in case of offline pf request, won’t the above issue be considered as well or will it get processed?

    I’ve the same issue, so I checked different videos on the net and submitted a grievance to Income tax dept. mentioning that my name on the PAN card is Pulkuri Clive Mark which is correct as per all my docs and on the database it shows Clive Mark Pulkuri. They replied “the name sequence in PAN application is Last/Surname, First and Middle Name which will be displayed as First, Middle and Last Name in Income Tax Database” and made no changes. If there is a need to change name they asked to me submit a PAN card name change request.

    Now I’m not sure on how to go about it.

    Appreciate any help/suggestion here.

    Here is the issue, name as per Pan for example is Ram Singh & as per UAN is also Ram Singh but on income tax website/database it is reflecting as Ram Singh Singh hence the KYC is not getting approved. I have raised a ticket in grievance but I don’t see the need to make changes in pan card as it has the correct name Ram Singh. Pls guide.

    i am working at Axis bank currently, which has PF trust account, and also the PF account of my previous employer couldnt be transferred to my current employer.
    My PAN data is correct but mismatch in IT department showing error as PAN card mismatch , wrong name in IT database.
    VIPIN JENRAJ J is my PAN Card name , but in database it is Father’s name VIPIN JENRAJ ..

      If your service is below 5 yrs and PF claim amount is more than 50000 Rs then you must link your PAN with UAN or you can submit your PF claim offline to your PF office.

    I’ve applied for “Grievance to Solve PF PAN Verification Error”.I’m working in one software company from March 26th 2015 to July 26th 2018.If i apply for PF and pension withdrawal. Will that 36% tax deduction applies for me even after updating KYC with my PAN ?

    • Hi Janardhan, If you link your PAN then no tax will deduct otherwise tax will deduct. Better go for the offline claim or if you want to apply online submit form 15G and PAN copy within 1 or 2 days to your PF office.

    Today i went to PF office to change my EPFO name as per aadhar card and while doing my KYC again the pan card doesn’t match with incometax db error came..I’ve raised the grevience request do i need to go to EPFO office to make this update or they will do it .

    I have my bank account and aadhar verified in epf portal. But there is a name mismatch in PAN.My Surname is given as first name and first name is given as surname. When i visited UTI Pan services they said it is how it will be in PAN and we need to verify offline.

    I am currently working with HCL which is a PF trust. In order to submit my KYC, whom should i approach. Current Trust office or my EPFO office available near me.

    Currently i am serving notice period with the employer. I am travelling abroad. PF amount of my previous employer is with EPFO office and i have not not transferred to my current organization PF account. If i want to withdraw that, will PAN linking be necessarily needed or can i withdraw without linking since i have already linked my AADHAR and Bank account.

      1. You need to submit KYC to HCL PF trust office.
      2. You can withdraw PF amount from your previous employer without PAN when your claim amount is less than 50000 Rs (in below 5 yrs of service there), otherwise, 34.6% tax will deduct from your claim amount. To avoid this either link your PAN with UAN or go for the offline claim by submitting PF composite claim form Aadhar and submit 2 copies of form 15G and 1 copy of PAN.

      Change in the name on PAN card and income tax department is same. If you change it on PAN card it will change in Income tax database also.

  18. Hi, My name on the PAN card is correct as per the UAN/PF.
    But in the Income tax data base there is a slight difference in my name which is not allowing to link my PAN in UAN.

    Name on Pan card and name in the income tax database are 2 different things here.

    now I need to change my name in the data base so that it matches the UAN and then I would be able to claim my PF. Kindly help.

      Due to my initial A expanded to my Father name in Income tax
      My UAN name as. MANIGANDAN A

      Then how can Aadhaar and Pancard seeded?? And same why not the same in UAN

      I have claimed my EPF by submitting 15/G form via offline two times with employer but no response from the field office.
      Even I had submitted grievance in online but no option says Please update your Pan details as per Aadhar card. Then only You will be able to update KYC details in UAN portal of EPFO Aadhar and Pan card details must be tallied with each other
      How to update my Pancard Name is same

      And on 17th Apr claimed Online without seeding my Pancard on UAN
      But today online claim also rejected Remarks rejected due to :- PAN NUMBER IS NOT MENTIONED IN THE ONLINE CLAIM./K
