PF Transferred but Pension Fund Not Transferred Why?

While transferring your PF to a new PF account your pension amount will also transfer but that amount will not be visible in your new PF passbook, and you can withdraw that pension amount without any problem.

Why Pension Contribution is Not Transferred in EPF?

The purpose of EPF pension is to give security to the EPF member after retirement, so when you transfer your PF amount then your new PF passbook will not show the transferred pension contribution. But still the pension fund transfers.

If your total service is below 10 yrs then you can withdraw that amount after leaving your job. If your service reaches above 10 yrs then you will get a monthly pension amount after 58 yrs of your age.

Note: In PF, 9 years 6 months service will also be considered as 10 years. So even if you work for 9 years 6 months, still it will be considered as 10 years.

Pension Calculation Formula: (Average Basic Salary + DA) X No of Years Of Service) /70

What is The Pension Fund in PF Passbook

Like an employee, every employer will also contribute 12% of employee 7basic salary to the PF account of the employee. But in which only 3.6% will go to the PF account of the employee and the remaining 8.33% will be deposited to the pension account of the employee. This will be considered as a pension fund of the employee.

EPF members can withdraw this before 10yrs of service, after 10 yrs they can’t able to withdraw it. Either they have to wait until 58yrs of age or they can get a scheme certificate.

How Can I Know that My Pension Service Period Transferred or Not

EPF members can check their service history easily at the UAN member portal. For that log in to UAN member portal in menu bar go to view option, and click on service history

Once you click on service history then your service history associated with various PF accounts linked to that UAN number will appear.

Can I Withdraw or Transfer My Pension, Which is Best?

The primary aim of EPF is to support the employees after their retirement, especially pension is the major support to the private employees when they become old. So it is always better to transfer your pension amount whenever you change your job.

Still, you have an option to withdraw your PF amount whenever you need it, like in the form of PF advance or complete PF withdrawal after leaving the job. So don’t touch your pension amount until you complete 58 years and use the benefit of EPS monthly pension after your retirement.

Will I Get Pension Really After Retirement

Yes, without any doubt you will get your monthly pension after retirement, for that, you need to submit form 10D to your PF office either offline or online. Some employees withdraw their pension because of fear of doubt about the monthly pension.

But you don’t need to have any such kind of doubts because EPFO is very genuine in settling claims and it is under the control of the central government, so you don’t need to worry about it.

What Happens to Pension Amount If Employee Dies Before 58 Years

Unfortunately, if the employee dies before 58 years then the nominees / legal heirs will get that monthly pension for that they need to submit form 20 and form 10D to their regional EPF office.

Every EPF member who is contributing to EPF will also become eligible for EDLI (Employee Deposit Linked Insurance) Scheme. Under this scheme also nominees will get some amount, for that they need to submit form 5IF.

  1. Hello Sir

I have worked in 3 different organisations. My PF amount was transferred from employer 1 to employer 2. I had pension account with Employer 1. But mistakenly my Employer 2 didnt create a Pension account for me. Now when i am trying to Transfer PF to my Employer 3, the request is getting rejected saying, the EPS was not transferred from Employer 1 and no EPS bifurcated with Employer 2.

I am very much confused on how to solve this issue. My current Employer ( Employer 3) contributes to EPS. Kindly guide me on how to resolve this and whom to approach.
    Thank you

    • As per your message I understood that your company 2 didn’t pay any amount to your pension account, you can get confirmation by checking your company 2’s PF passbook.
After checking the passbook register a complaint on the EPF grievance portal website by stating your problem and you will receive a reply within 2-3 days, based on their reply proceed further.

  2. My PF amount is transerred from one EPFO ID/one state to another EPFO ID/another state but in same organization (Public Sector ) with same UAN. But EPS/pension contributions are not reflecting in my current EPFO ID. Grievance lodged but got a reply saying “This is to inform you that for transfer of PF from previous establishment to current establishment, PF amount and EPS service only transferred to current establishment”. Amount is not reflecting in new EPF id,but is reflecting in old EPF id under one UAN. whether the previous pension amount will be consolidated with the current pension contributions.

    • If your PF amount was transferred, then don’t worry. Pension will also transfer but it will not reflect in the passbook. Whenever you leave your present job then you can withdraw your all companies pension amount.

  3. Hello,

Can anyone help with Pension Fund withdrawal? I have worked in a total of 3 organizations. I have transferred my funds from 1st company to 2nd company. Then requested to transfer funds from 2nd company to 3rd organization, this request was rejected. Now I have left the organization as well due to a family issue. When I raised a request to withdraw my Pension Fund then received the Pension fund only for the last organization which worked. The pension fund for 1st two organizations is stuck and I am unable to withdraw.

    • To withdraw your pension you have to transfer your pension from your 2nd company to 3rd company. Solve your problem related to PF transfer, only after transfer you can withdraw all your Three companies pension amounts from your 3rd company.

I made the transfer request again from 2nd Employer to 3rd Employer with Attestation through 3 employers, but the HR from the 3rd employer says this cannot be withdrawn as per the EPF guidelines. Now I don’t know what to do, can you please guide me on this?

        • If your total service is below 10 yrs, then after leaving your 3rd company you can withdraw your total pension amounts of both companies 2 & 3. (For that submit form 10C on UAN portal)

  7. My colleague was a member of EPS earlier who died recently of a heart attack. He was the member of both EPF and EPS till May 31st 2015. He again joined the same organization on 15th June 2015 (after 15 days gap). His organization was a exempted one and they have the PF Trust.

As per your Order, w.e.f. 1st September 2014, any employees whose salary was more than Rs. 15,000/- was not eligible for EPS. However, if he was already a member of EPS as on 1st Sept’14, the membership will continue.

In the above case, the employer at the time of my colleague’s rejoining ignored his earlier EPS membership and given only EPF membership to my colleague.

Since my colleague died, kindly clarify whether his family (wife and two minor children) are eligible for family pension considering the deceased person’s EPS contributions till May 2015.

Thank you in advance for your favourable response.

    • If your father got a new PF account in the new job, then the previous company PF amount has to be transferred to your new PF account, then after leaving the present job he can withdraw his full PF and pension amounts.
(Or) he can withdraw PF advance amount from the previous PF account even before the PF transfer.
To correct wrong DOJ or DOE submit PF joint declaration form to your PF office.

    • It will transfer but the amount will not be shown in PF passbook. But you can withdraw that amount whenever you want if the total service is below 10 yrs.
At present you can check service history in UAN member portal, it is the only evidence to know that your pension amount was transferrred.

    • If you have your previous PF account then you can transfer your pension service to the present PF account either online or offline by submitting PF transfer form 13 (or)
you can also get a pension scheme certificate for your previous work by submitting form 10C to your PF office.
You can choose one of these based on your interest.

    • If you transferred your PF amount then it is not possible to withdraw your pension amount from a previous company, that service period will be useful to you after your retirement age to calculate the monthly pension amount.
