How to Update / Correct Date of Exit in EPF Account

EPF members whose date of exit is not available are not able to withdraw their PF amount online at UAN member portal. Date of joining and date of exit are two important things that every PF officer will check when the employee went to withdraw PF amount. So marking employee exit date is very important for an employer to make a smooth transaction between employee and EPFO.

How to update date of exit in EPF account

Step 1:- There are two ways to enter exit dates of the employee in employee provident fund organization. The first one is by bulk exit method and the other one is by doing individual exit in unified EPF employer portal. For this employer needs to login to employer PF portal.

Step 2:- After successful login, click on a member in the primary menu and select profile. Then employer redirected to another page, which asks for UAN number or PF account number of the employee. Here we need to enter the UAN number or member id of the employee to whom we want to mark exit.

Step 4:- Once we enter the details the detail of that particular employee will appear on the screen, there we will find three options, they are profile, kyc and mark exit. Now our aim is to mark EXIT. So click on exit and enter  the reason for exit and exit date of the eployee and click on save.

The reasons are mainly Retirement, Death in service, Super Annuation, Permant Disablement, Cessation, and Death away from service, if you don’t know the reason then mark it as UNKNOWN

Step 4:- After selecting reason and entering the date we will get the following message

Member Exit Saved Successfully for Approval.

Step 5:- After this go to approvals under MEMBER option in the primary menu and approve the exit of the employee and complete the process of individual employee exit unified EPF portal.

How to correct / change date of exit in PF

Sometimes employers may mark the wrong date of exit for EPF members. In this case, both employee and employer are not able to correct the date of exit online.

In order to correct or change the incorrect date of exit, EPF member needs to submit PF joint declaration form to their regional EPF office.

Along with PF joint declaration form employer need to write a request letter to the regional PF office to correct the date of exit of the employee. Once employee or employer submit these Two then within 30 days the DOE of the employee in PF will be corrected.

If you don’t want to wait until the correction of DOE and are you in hurry to claim PF amount then submit above Two letters along with your PF claim forms.

Sir i have one doubt in epf ….i have transfered epf account to one employer to another in online ….same employer but two companys….finally i worked in their main company,now im resigned in march 31 2018…now oly transfered from one member id to another in online by submiting present employer …pls clearly explain next what is the procedure for finishing it after tranfering in online..pls i need support

      Check your PF passbook, if it shows all the transferred amounts then claim your PF amount either in online or offline.

      • After transfering it is showing form 13 in a pdf file….my doubt is in online transfer, the amount will automatically transfer or there is any role for employer in online transfer….pls reply

          If your Aadhar number is linked with both PF account numbers then it will transfer automatically in 30 days otherwise you have to initiate PF transfer process. In this case, your employer has to approve it in their employer PF portal.

  2. I have a serious issue, I resigned from my previous company on 30.04.2018, now from 7th may i joined a new company, My new company took my uan. My previous eployer showed my date of exit, now when i claim my Epf & Eps money portal said date of exit less than 2 months, This is ok for me.
    but my new company contribute from may, now my problem is can i withdraw my prevoius employment’s Epf & Eps money online, I alreday updated my aadhar, pan & bank account with my uan.
    If its possible tell me the proccedure & i think if my uan is usuing for monthly comtribution, there are no gap in months, there are involvement of two companies, but my uan is same,
    I want to withdraw Epf & Eps money both of my previous employment, show me the way,
    please
    or tell me one thing, i f i want part withdrawl of pf for any reason, can i show any documents for this particular reason.

  3. Dear sir,
    I wanted to withdraw my EPF , in epf claim my form 19 and 10 c is to be claim.
    But when i checked my claim status came to know the findings as below

    DOJ EPF DOJ EPS DOE EPF DOE EPS Reason Of Leaving
    01-JUN-2010 01-JUN-2017 31-OCT-2017 31-OCT-2017 CESSATION (SHORT SERVICE)
    and it seems they have given wrong DOJ of EPS , now guide what to do and how to get form 19 and 10 c claim.

  4. I linked my PAN already, but i don’t filed ITR Return, because my income is not taxable, so how they can detect my income when i’m claiming my pf money online. If i’ll not submit 15g then they can deduct TDS, If 15g mandatory for this situation, then how can i submit online.

  5. when I’m claiming money from efo member login then only one option i can select in claim portion ..only epf dithdrawl & only eps withdrawl. I want both because i have worked total 4.5 years with Epf facility , can i claim individually for two claim epf & eps both.. because it have two separate forms i know.

  6. How to submit 15g form when I’ll claim my EPS money on line. I’m using UMANG Aap, this have EPFO employee service as well.

      There is no need to submit form 15G when you claim PF online but your PAN must be linked with your UAN.

  7. I have worked in my Previous Organization more than 4 years, what should my HR DO, means what reason he will showing in mark exit reason. Hr can’t find unknown reason section in mark exit reason. Can he put cessation (short service).

    I am doing the EPF work for my organization. By mistake I put retirement as the reason of exit instead of cessation. And the concern staff is facing problem in withdraw his EPF amount. Can I change the reason of exit.

      You can correct it by writing a request letter to your EPF regional office and on the same letter mention the details of your staff along with their UAN numbers.

  9. I asked my employer to add DOE as I have left the job 2months ago and want to fill Form 19 for final settlement but the employer said that he cannot update the DOE and suggested me to fill Form 31 with non receipt of wages >2 months option.
    What should I do now as I want to get art the of fund

    • Hi Vishal,
      Fill form 19 and in place of DOE mention the last date your last working month. For example, if you have left in Feb 2018 then write your DOE as 28 Feb 2018.

      It doesn’t take any time to update DOE. Maybe your employer hasn’t approved your DOE PDF file in approvals section in employer EPF portal. So please ask them to check it once.

  11. Am in abroad, after so many troubles, I was about to apply claim through online. But now it shows PAN to be updated. If I enter the PAN, it is not matching the name as in UAN account, I contacted PF office, they are telling to Change the name in PAN as Aadhaar name. My exit is mentioned as Cessation, will there TDS deduction or not if am not updating the PAN. Or I should come to INDIA then change the name in PAN ? then apply am waiting for PF about a year. Pls guide

    • Hi Dhana,
      Even though the names present in both PAN and Aadhar are same in some cases EPF members are not able to link their PAN with UAN it is a problem with EPF site. If you are claiming more than 50000 Rs in less than 5yrs of service then tax will deduct from your PF claim amount. In order to avoid the tax, you have to link your PAN with UAN or you have to claim your PF amount offline by submitting PF claim forms along with 2 copies of form 15G and 1 copy of PAN card. You can send those forms to your regional PF office by courier or you can take the help of your relatives in India.

      Without DOJ and DOE you cannot withdraw your PF amount, you can find your DOE in your PF passbook and for date of exit you have to ask your employer to add it in their PF portal.

      If the employee continues the same UAN then the amount will transfer automatically without doing anything. Otherwise, you need to submit PF transfer form 13 or you can also do PF transfer at UAN member portal.

  15. sir one person leaved the company on 26.02.2018 …i exit the member on 26.02.2018….but paid 28 days salary….the problem is the person again rejoined on 02.03.2018 ….now how to enter the member again …shall i continue the same UAN or have to register new UAN…kindly clear it

      Continue the same UAN with new PF number and new joining date, as per new PF transfer rules his previous pf amount will transfer automatically into new PF account within 30 days if it doesn’t transfer then transfer either in online or offline by submitting PF transfer form 13.

    yesterday i went to PF office for submitting Adar EPF claim form,already i have explained you that in previous employment i have to claim my pf amount but having same UAN NO.(date of exit- 10.06.2017).but in pf office they are telling that i cant claim now ,just transfer ur amount to current employment by submitting form 13….i want my pf amount …kindly give solution help me in this…how should i proceed

      Generally they have to accept it but I don’t know why your PF office is not accepting. So it is better to transfer your PF amount, once amount transfers in to your new PF account then apply for PF advance amount.
