How to Update / Correct Date of Exit in EPF Account

EPF members whose date of exit is not available are not able to withdraw their PF amount online at UAN member portal. Date of joining and date of exit are two important things that every PF officer will check when the employee went to withdraw PF amount. So marking employee exit date is very important for an employer to make a smooth transaction between employee and EPFO.

How to update date of exit in EPF account

Step 1:- There are two ways to enter exit dates of the employee in employee provident fund organization. The first one is by bulk exit method and the other one is by doing individual exit in unified EPF employer portal. For this employer needs to login to employer PF portal.

Step 2:- After successful login, click on a member in the primary menu and select profile. Then employer redirected to another page, which asks for UAN number or PF account number of the employee. Here we need to enter the UAN number or member id of the employee to whom we want to mark exit.

Step 4:- Once we enter the details the detail of that particular employee will appear on the screen, there we will find three options, they are profile, kyc and mark exit. Now our aim is to mark EXIT. So click on exit and enter  the reason for exit and exit date of the eployee and click on save.

The reasons are mainly Retirement, Death in service, Super Annuation, Permant Disablement, Cessation, and Death away from service, if you don’t know the reason then mark it as UNKNOWN

Step 4:- After selecting reason and entering the date we will get the following message

Member Exit Saved Successfully for Approval.

Step 5:- After this go to approvals under MEMBER option in the primary menu and approve the exit of the employee and complete the process of individual employee exit unified EPF portal.

How to correct / change date of exit in PF

Sometimes employers may mark the wrong date of exit for EPF members. In this case, both employee and employer are not able to correct the date of exit online.

In order to correct or change the incorrect date of exit, EPF member needs to submit PF joint declaration form to their regional EPF office.

Along with PF joint declaration form employer need to write a request letter to the regional PF office to correct the date of exit of the employee. Once employee or employer submit these Two then within 30 days the DOE of the employee in PF will be corrected.

If you don’t want to wait until the correction of DOE and are you in hurry to claim PF amount then submit above Two letters along with your PF claim forms.

      If he doesn’t have UAN number than try to withdraw PF amount using his PF number and along with claim form submit a request letter on your company letterhead with employer attestation.

      I haven’t faced any situation like this, so it is better to ask about this in EPF grievance portal, but before that, it is better to check his UAN status at UAN member portal.

    This is Bhargava, I have submitted PF through unifiedportal received digital PDF file, can you tell me how many days it will take time to credit amount to my bank?may i know is this form needs to be submit in EPFO office?is it required?

      After registering digital signature, you will get a pdf file, on that take your employer attestation and submit it to your regional EPF office.

  5. MY friend DOB in EPF portal entered wrongly correct is 29.05.1993 But entered wongly as 25.05.1973 .so what to do for this???Now she wants to claim her PF amount

    • Hi Priya,
      If she has time then submit PF joint declaration form or she can also correct it at UAN member portal. But the process will take 30 days.
      If she wants to withdraw PF amount immediately then her employer needs to submit a request letter along with PF claim forms to EPFO to release her PF amount.

    • KYC means Know Your Customer, it used to identify a particular person. In PF we use KYC like Aadhar, PAN, and bank account details. Updating these details are mandatory to avail various online facilities provided by employee provident fund organization.

    One more concern I have. I have 2 UAN numbers which I want to link and KYC documents are updated and approved on both the UAN still when I am trying to transfer UAN online by the option “One member- One EPF accounts” In the option select previous employer detail, I am mentioning my previous UAN and it shows massage both the accounts details are not matching.

    How can I merge my 2 UAN as it seems impossible online.

      • Thank You for your reply Sir. Actually I have already given my UAN number to my current employer and the same is continue with current employment. My query is 1 month gap which is showing and wrongly updated, Is there any option my previous employer can correct my exit details?

          It is not possible to correct date of exit online, you have to submit PF joint declaration form to EPF office.

    My employer has updated wrong DOE by mistake before few days. My last working day was 20/11/2017 while they have updated 20/10/2017. They have already submitted my PF contribution for the month of November but by mistake wrong month was updated.

    How to correct this mistake as contribution is already submitted for the month of November.

  10. I have two UAN (UAN1 and UAN2). My previous company(not a trust account) is not helping to update DOE for EPS and EPF.
    Aadhar and Pan is updated in both the UAN1 and UAN2. I want to transfer the EPF to my current company(having a trust).
    Now i have two login in unified portal for each UAN (UAN1 & UAN2). I have my mobile linked with aadhar.
    When i am log-in thru UAN2 in unified portal for transfer of the amount from UAN1 thru “ONE MEMBER -ONE EPF ACCOUNT”.
    I need to attest it thru my current company as my current company is not helping. Its saying “Details of previous account are different than present account. Hence claim request cannot be processed.” How to transfer online please help. Thanks in advance.

    • Hi Shilpi Benerjee,
      In your case, it is not possible to transfer your PF online, either you have to withdraw your previous PF amount or you have to transfer offline by submitting PF transfer form 13.

      • How it’s possible, when UAN link with Adhar number, one person can hold only one Aadhar number, so how to create two UAN.

          For last Two years it became mandatory to use Aadhar to generate UAN number, but before that, there is no need of Aadhar, So some employees got multiple UANs whenever they changed their jobs.

      If your aadhar number and bank account number are linked to your PF UAN number then only you can able to claim your PF offline without employer attestation by submitting EPF composite claim form Aadhar

    • Hi Shivendra Kumar,
      It is not possible to withdraw PF online without updating your date of exit, instead of that, you can claim your PF offline by filling EPF composite claim form aadhaar.On this form write your date of exit. Suppose if your last working date is 14 Dec 2017 then mention your date of exit as 31 Dec 2017.

      If KYC were not updated then members need to submit EPF composite claim form non aadhar, but this form needs employer attestation.

          Aadhar card copy & bank passbook copy is enough when you are claiming less than 50000 Rs, But when you claim more than 50000 Rs in less than 5 yrs of your service then in addition to above documents you need to submit PAN card copy and form 15 G.
