UAN is Not Active, How to Activate

EPF members need to activate their UAN‌ number to avail various online facilities related to the PF scheme like PF passbook download, PF transfer and PF withdrawal, and correction of PF‌ details, etc. If you don’t activate your UAN number then you need to depend on your employer or PF office for every small PF related works.

Every employee who is contributing to EPF will have a UAN number and PF account number. If you don’t know your UAN number then you can find it with your PF‌ account number at UAN member portal.

UAN Activation Process

Step 1: Go to UAN member portal and click on activate UAN option.

Step 2: If you already knew your UAN then enter it, otherwise enter your PF member id, or aadhar number or PAN number (which must be already linked to your UAN)

Step 3: Now enter your name, date of birth, mobile number and captcha appearing on the screen and click on get authorization pin.

Step 4: Now you will receive an OTP‌ and enter that OTP‌and click on validate OTP‌ and activate UAN. Now your UAN will be activated & it will be sent to your mobile number, after that you need to set up a password.

You will be able to download your PF passbook after 24 hrs from the time of activating your UAN.

  1. Sir, My name got changed in aadhar after marriage. However, unable to update name in PF records because of that getting name mismatch.
    How can i activate UAN now?

  2. Sir my uan does not active it shows the mismatch of my name but in my aadhar and pf having same name but the problem is in my pf having different number and in my aadhar having another number so I change the number of my aadhar as pf but it does not work

    I want to active my UAN number but it is not linked with aadhar card and epfo portal there is only one option to activate UAN need linked aadhar. so can you suggest me how to activate my UAN with this situation?

  4. Sir, my UAN is not activating, it shows the member name does not match with the available data in the unified portal , I contacted our head office also but from there also not getting any positive response. Now please suggest to me how I can activate my UAN.

  5. I AM UNABLE TO ACTIVATE MY UAN NO WHEN I TRYING TO ACTIVATE, I AM GETTING AN ERROR ,THE USER NAME DOES NOT MATCH WITH AVAILABLE UAN DATA ,MY ALL DATA IS CORRECT AS PER ADHAR WHY SHOWING THIS ERROR MSG ANY IDEA WHAT SHOULD I DO

    • Any small difference in name, dob, and gender will cause the above error.
      So request your employer to show those details from their employer PF portal.

    when i use forgot password it shows that your uan is deactivated.and when i tried to activate my UAN AND FILLED details it showed that your uan is already activated .try forgot password what to do sir?

  8. Sir, my UAN is not activating, it shows the member name does not match with the available data in the unified portal but in my aadhar and PF have the same name. I contacted our head office also but from there also not getting any positive response. Now please suggest to me how I can activate my UAN.

    • Without login on the UAN member portal, we cannot know whether our details are correct or not.
      You can request those details from your employer. They will see them on their employer portal.

  10. Sir, when I try to activate my UAN it shows “your UAN is not allocated to any establishment”.
    Can you please tell me why is it showing like this?

    • Please check your PF passbook, to know whether the PF contributions are crediting to that account or not.
      If every month PF is crediting to that UAN associate PF account, then register a complain on the EPF grievance portal website.

    I have a similar issue, Unable to activate my UAN. The details shared by my employer matches with the current documents I have such as Name, DOB and Gender.
    when I tried to activate my UAN I found that I could NOT do it and throws an error.

    • It happens when your PF details like name, dob, and gender do not match with your PF account.
      So ask your employer to show those details.

  16. Hi Sir,

    I am trying to activate my UAN. For that, once I add my aadhar details and enter OTP, it gives me error saying that Gender does not match with UIDAI Details.

    Could you help in what could this issue be.

    • i.e your gender details on your Aaadhar or PF account were wrongly mentioned.
      So you have to correct the wrong one.
      If it is wrong on PF then submit PF joint declaration form to your PF office.
      If on Aadhar, visit your nearest Aadhar enrollment center for correction of gender details.

    With reference to the above subject we would like to inform you that I unable to generate my old UAN(last contribution in March’12 ) because here always reflect the massage that your inputs are not match With our record during the activation of UAN through member id.

    Please help me.
